EXTEND TRACTOR LIFE WITH ROUTINE OIL CHANGES
While we know engine oil must be changed, knowing when and what oil should be used is key. Operator manuals indicate service intervals for equipment operating under "normal" conditions, while "extreme" conditions require more frequent service. Short tripping, extended idling, dirty/dusty conditions are just a few examples of such conditions.
Once a schedule is established, the appropriate oil should then be selected. Different applications require different oils. Load factors are an important consideration and can vary between vehicle types: cars operate around 30%, trailer-pulling trucks 60%, and off-road equipment around 90% of available horsepower. Off-road engines experience higher loads, more dust, soot, etc. and require different oil.
